Gather to welcome 2019, Japanese Oshogatsu style! Dance with Taiko drumming beats, pound Mochi sticky rice, parade with Shishi the lion, and relax with the Chado tea ceremony! Try hands-on activities such as Koma spinning tops, Fuku-warai lucky laugh game, Origami (giant & wearable origami), Omikuji fortune telling and more!
This year’s Oshogatsu kicks off the year-long celebration of the 60th Anniversary of Kyoto/Boston Sister Cities Friendship! Boston Children’s Museum is home to the Japanese House (Kyo-no-Machiya), an authentic silk merchant’s house from Kyoto, Japan. The house will be decorated in New Year’s fashion for the event with many symbols of good luck.
